PICKLED CRAB APPLES

A traditional recipe from Coldwater Canyon Provisions made with local, organic crab apples. Gorgeous and delicious with rich meat, like a pork roast or on a cheese board.
Anywhere from nine to fourteen little apples per jar.
You can eat them like regular apples, and some folks eat them core and all.
When the crab apples have been eaten, don't throw away the light syrup in the jar! You can simmer it down a bit for very special sauce for vanilla ice cream, or add it directly to a mug of steaming cider.
Some of our friends add it to cocktails in place of simple syrup.
Ingredients: Organic crab apples, cane sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, allspice, cloves.
